Nail Stamping Kits – Nail Stamping Tips and Tricks Video

Nail Stamping Kits

Nail stamping is a great way to create impressive intricate designs on your nail without having to do anything too fiddly or needing a great amount of creative skill. I’ve blogged about my results before here, Apply polish to a plate and scrape off the excess, roll the stamper across to pick up the paint and then roll the design onto your nails. I’ve used nail stamps for quite a while but it can be hard to get the results, it often seems to be overlooked that it can be quite hard to get it to work. I was requested to do a post on nail stamping as people weren’t able to get it to work and I have  3 different nail stamping kits of varying quality.

Which Nail Stamping Kits work?

If you look into nail stamping kits everyone seems to recommend Konad. I went onto Amazon and bought the set after reading up on it. In the set I had some plates, a plate holder, a stamper, a scraper and red and white stamping polishes. I really liked the plates, remember to remove the plastic film from them otherwise they won’t work. The plate holder is a little pointless and I don’t really use it. The scraper is fantastic as it is metal and really takes off the excess polish. The red and white polish are really good and thick but the bottles are tiny, you can find other cheaper thick polishes that work equally.

When I first used the set I gave up, the stamper wouldn’t pick up the polish from the plate at all. I tried so many times and it didn’t work. I then bought a cheaper one on ebay. The scraper wasn’t good, just cheap plastic, but the dual ended stamper was far better. The other day I also found a stamper set in Poundland and it works the best out of the 3, except for the scraper.

If you are struggling with the polish not picking up file the stamper with a rough nail file. I did this to my initial Konad stamper and it made it work brilliantly. Also rolling the stamper not just pressing the stamper onto the plate helps pick up the polish. Some polishes just won’t work with nail stamping so this may also cause bad results. Cheaper nail plates are sometimes fantastic but at other times can be too shallow and give poor results. With nail stamping you can get great results but it is a question of trial and error until you know what works.
