An interview with the exciting new independent UK designer behind the Laurelle Woman label.
My friend Laura is a very talented designer. She has recently launched her own rather beautiful fashion brand, Laurelle Woman. I was lucky enough to get a little interview with her to share her inspiration behind her business venture and get a first look at her stunning Autumn/Winter 2017 collection!
Laurelle Woman
Laurelle Woman is a new independent fashion brand for the modern day woman. We create pieces women can style themselves to reflect their individual personalities. I started the brand earlier this year after working in retail since finishing university and barely putting my Fashion Design degree to use other than the odd unpaid internship here and there. I decided it was time to stop thinking about starting a brand and just do it. This was the main inspiration behind the identity of Laurelle Woman– to inspire other women to follow their own goals and be happy within themselves. It’s so important to do what you love!
Each piece is designed and manufactured in the UK. This is important to me as a designer after having visited a factory in China myself. I watched a man whose role was to press the garments. It took him 7 seconds to iron a t-shirt. He did this repeatedly. I thought there must be more to life than ironing t-shirts! Being independent, authenticity is such a major part of our brand’s identity which is why we will always manufacture here in the UK.
The new Autumn/Winter collection is a mix of fluid silhouettes teamed with luxuriously tactile textures. Expect details such as frills, buckles and tie fronts in a cosy colour palette of neutral tones, soft greys and grown up reds. We’ve also just introduced our first accessories in the form of lush faux fur scarves.
