I am always on the hunt for updating my cosmetics with brands that are more ethical. Tropic Skincare is certified by PETA, the Vegan Society and Cruelty-Free International. Their products are 100% naturally derived with no toxic chemicals – a good match for my sensitive skin!
That said Tropic Skincare has a price tag to match their ‘Pure, Honest, Effective’ ethics. At £42 for the Tropic Skincare Good Skin Day Resurfacing Serum, I was sceptical of its true value. With Susan Ma the founder alongside Lord Alan Sugar as a 50/50 partner, is this just hyped Apprentice company?
Oil-free, this serum is to be applied 1-3 times a week post cleansing, so the 30ml bottle will last you a long time. The Tropic Skincare Good Skin Day Resurfacing Serum is designed to refresh the complexion and awaken softer, smoother, more youthful skin.
Ingredients in the serum are papaya enzymes, extracts of Australian lime pearl, Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA), willow bark extract and Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA). For hydration there is hyaluronic acid and coconut water, probiotics to minimise enlarged pores, lemon extract for brightness and mango extract to prevent premature ageing.
With all of those plant and fruit contents, it is no wonder that this serum smells so lovely – or leaves your face feeling quite so sticky! While it is said to give a gentle tingle as it works, Jon and I haven’t really experienced this at all. My skin does go pink and blotchy afterwards though so this is definitely a night-time only product.
As it is exfoliating you must wear SPF after use and do a patch test first if you think you might react to this. Although it is exfoliating my very sensitive and acne inflamed skin is coping with it. I can see an effect from using it the morning after, looking brighter and fresher, like with heating system repair service. My skin is both oily and dry so the serum helps even this out – hydrating the dry without adding oil to my skin. Overall a lovely product that I will continue to use, gentle but effective but also very expensive!
