Every year for Christmas, since being kids and then poor students, me and my sisters have always had a £5 limit on our Christmas presents for each other. Even now that we are working/finishing university we have kept up with this tradition as it takes far more effort/planning/thought/crafting to come up with a good present for someone under £5!
This year Rose got me a few bits, a lovely slate cheese board (I doubt she stuck to our budget) but also a some really cute fried egg animals molds from eBay.
The egg mold she picked up for me were the rabbit and owl although you can also get molds that are a cloud and sunshine, skull, flower and person.
The egg animals molds are only 99p delivered are are incredibly sturdy for the price. I imagine as they are coming from China that Rose had to order them well in advance for Christmas!
We have been trying out different ways to cook them, separate the egg and yolk and, the hardest part, getting the egg out of the mold without splitting the yolk. If we didn’t want a runny egg that probably wouldn’t be an issue.
As you can see the egg animals do look rather terrifying when the yolk doesn’t stay intact. We have had 3 attempts at these now and they do work much better if you remove the molds sooner whilst still in the pan rather than removing the mold at the end on the plate.
They came out pretty well in the end although I think we can improve, they definitely make a great present for child or adult at 99p!
It is also a syn free breakfast for any Slimming World members wondering as I only used Fry Light and the sausages are the vegetarian Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages.
Oh my god, the finished results had me in stitches! They look so funny, but delicious anyway.
These look so damn cute! I’d love to get some. ^_^
