5 TIPS WHEN TRAVELLING WITH GLASSES
Travelling with glasses should be easy enough, but losing or damaging your eyeglasses while on a trip can become a real nightmare. You can be completely ready to see the world, but if you don’t properly care for your glasses while travelling, you might not be able to see much of anything!
Here are a few of my tips for travelling with glasses to avoid any disasters when on the road!
KNOW YOUR PRESCRIPTION
If you are anything like me, damaging or misplacing your glasses while travelling is inevitable! Make it as smooth as possible for yourself if you do need to order a new pair while away. Having your prescription saved on your phone will make this situation a lot easier! If you don’t want to carry around a physical copy of your prescription, you can always use apps like Evernote. I find it a perfect place to keep all of my travel documents in one place, and I can access them even when offline.
Luckily, larger glasses company Mister Spex offers international shipping to many European destinations. With their online virtual try-on system, you can find a new pair to suit you and swiftly get a new set delivered to you.
PACK AN EXTRA PAIR
For those who wear contacts or heavily rely on prescription glasses, it is wise to bring an extra pair of glasses just in case. It is better to be safe and over-prepared than being without sight!
HARD CASE STORAGE
It may take up a little more room but always make sure to store your glasses in a hard case! The easiest way to break your glasses is by forgetting to store them somewhere protected. Try to avoid putting your glasses on your head or hanging them on your shirt because it’s the easiest way to lose them! If you are doing some more adventurous travelling, a neck strap may be an accessory to invest in. Your glasses are always safely secured around your neck, and if they fall off, they won’t get far.
CARRY ON YOUR GLASSES
When flying, pack one pair of glasses in your carry-on and your extra pair in your checked suitcases. That way, your vision won’t be affected if your baggage is delayed or lost.
TAKE A REPAIR KIT
Sometimes a screw can come loose, so having a handy repair kit can be useful for both your reading glasses or sunglasses. A microfiber lens cloth is also helpful for cleaning your glasses on the go!
