I love travelling around Europe, and it was the perfect time to explore the Baltic states and visit Lithuania when we found cheap flights to Vilnius.
With beautiful buildings, historical memorials, and a castle on a lake, Lithuania is an incredible destination for every kind of traveller. We spent 19 days exploring the Baltic States and loved every minute!
We started my trip in the vibrant capital city of Vilnius and walked the steep steps to the hill of three crosses, had a tour of Vilnius Cathedral and crypts and saw incredible views from Vilnius University’s St. Johns’ Church Bell Tower. We also went on day trips to the towns of Trakai, Kaunas, Paneriai and Šiauliai.

One of the biggest highlights of our trip to Lithuania was visiting Užupis. Užupis is the bohemian artistic district, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and even has its own constitution. Such a fantastic place to relax.
Some days we explored what the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, had to offer, other days we took the train to other, less touristy areas. We took the train when visiting Šiauliai then rented bikes from the library to cycle out of town to the hill of crosses. It was such a memorable experience!
THERE ARE SO MANY CAPTIVATING PLACES TO VISIT!
We also spent a day at the Trakai castle, taking a rowboat around the lake. We ended our trip with a stop at the iconic Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, one of Vilnius’ top sights!
You absolutely shouldn’t miss the enchanting capital of Vilnius or the sheer depth of history and beauty you’ll find if you venture further. We visited in springtime, and the weather was surprisingly warm, prices were incredibly low, and the main attractions were relatively quiet. For those that are planning a trip to Lithuania, we couldn’t recommend it enough!
Look at the 1st photo. I can’t wait to go there.
